Messages During COVID-19 Distancing

As I write this, we are in the middle of a shutdown of schools and businesses because of COVID-19. It’s quite a disruption to our lives, to say the least. I’ve been sending video messages to my students and fellow teachers while we’re all trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. I thought I would share them here as well. I’ll post more as I make them.

I know many students are nervous, and understandably so.  If I can offer some reassurance: we are doing this to keep each other’s loved ones safer.  Skip the handshakes and hugs outside of home, but choose to be courageous enough to help where you can.  Pick up an extra chore so mom or dad has one less thing to worry about.  Willingly watch a younger sibling while mom or dad makes a run to the store so all of you don’t have to go.  Send an encouraging message to a friend who you know tends toward anxiety.   And when you feel the need to let off some steam, go play your instrument.  It doesn’t fix everything, but it does help.

Pray, make wise decisions, then pray some more. You can do this.

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage”

Ps 27:13-14
