Private Woodwind Lessons
Lesson times available now for in-person and remote students!
My youngest is 8 and my oldest is in her 70's. They come from multiple states around the US and also overseas. Remote lessons work and are totally doable - even if you’re on another continent!
If you are in north Indianapolis, IN or Charlotte, NC, there are in-person lessons available, too.
Private lessons are for ANY student who wants to improve:
Adult students will find that they really can learn to play, or find enjoyment in picking up the instrument they haven't touched in years.
School-aged students who are ahead of their class will enjoy the challenge, while those who feel like they are behind will be encouraged by the extra help.
Any student can relax and focus on working through curriculum at their individual pace. In my studio, students are not ranked and I have never fired a student based on their performance. When a student enters my classroom, it is because they want to be a better musician, so that’s what I do: work to make the student a more proficient (and confident) musician. That may involve challenging the student to work above grade-level, or encouraging them to catch up to their grade-level. I am interested in my students’ ensemble placements, but I’m more interested in their persistent effort over time. I’m more interested in their ability to take in and process the art form. I’m more interested in their willingness to make decisions about the music they play. I’m more interested in their courage and poise in presenting their work to an audience.
Because when the student eventually moves on, I want them to be that much more confident in their role as a musician, as an artist, as a creator and that much more appreciative of music, of art, and of creation.
Remote Lesson Setup
David has nailed the remote lesson setup! He’s in good light with his music and a pencil at the ready. His iPad is set far enough back and angled so that I can see his face AND his hands. Thanks for letting me use you as a demo, David! :-)
